Sallisaw Area Legislator is a Vile Monster
John Bennett is an Embarrassment to Oklahoma
Sallisaw Republican John Bennett has distinguished himself in the last few years as a person who is openly bigoted towards Muslims. A few years ago he referred to Muslims as a "cancer" that needed to be "cut out of America." What started out as a display of militant ignorance and Islamophobia is now threatening Americans who are practitioners of the Islamic faith in Oklahoma.Prior to World War II the Nazis enacted Nuremberg Laws that imposed anti-Jewish statutes and sought to remove Jewish influences from German society. Sadly, Bennett says he wants to pass similar laws in Oklahoma. Today at the State Capitol, Bennett said he is working on legislation to remove the Council on American-Islamic Relations from the state of Oklahoma.
There is little doubt that this man represents the majority who elected him to office, which means that it's not just him but the culture in which he lives that has promoted his radicalism. It is clear many in Oklahoma agree with him but I wonder if those who do understand the evil in which they are promoting? If not, I hope they awaken soon and recognize the wickedness they are allowing to exist.
The OKGOP leadership agreed to spend $50,000 in doing a study about Islam whose sole intent was to marginalize a tiny number of American Muslims who have done nothing to deserve the hatred. He did these things and presented the results and refused to allow American Muslims the right to respond to the study. And further, he called them terrorists because they are Muslims.
Sorry but this barbaric rhetoric and demagoguery is akin to that of a low level member of the Nazi Party in pursuit of a pure Aryan society. This kind of person should not be near a political office and is an embarrassment to the state of Oklahoma.
