Edmond GOP Voters Should Support Adam Pugh

Adam Pugh Supporter is Falsely Attacked

Paul Blair's political attack of Angela Clark Little, a single mother, education activist and unpaid supporter of Adam Pugh, his primary opponent, is shameful.  Remember how Blair said that Ms. Little accused him of being connected with the virulent anti-LGBT group Westboro Baptist Church? A quick look at the attached picture will illuminate what really happened.

As you can observe, Ms. Little was asked specifically about a rumor that Blair was connected with the Westboro Baptist Church in 2012. In responding to the question, she stated that Blair is a pastor and that there was no proof that Blair hosted members of the Westboro Baptist Church but that “many reminded” her that he had.

Ms. Little then stated that it was a “rumor and unrelated to public education.” She then encouraged those asking to “stay focused on our specific issues.” She then directed them to Paul Blair if they wanted to really know if he did host Westboro Baptist Church members.

The names of the others in the dialog have been redacted out of concern that the Blair campaign or his supporters would personally attack those who were asking the questions about it.

But if people thought that Blair had housed Westboro Baptist Church members during a protest, it would not be far-fetched given the animus that Blair has shown to same sex marriage and LGBT issues in the past. In 2010, Blair appeared at a rally in support of anti-LGBT legislator Sally Kern after she was recorded saying that the “homosexual agenda” was the “biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam.”

A July 26, 2016 article about Blair by the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that works to protect civil rights for “the most vulnerable members of society,” stated: “While at The Awakening in March, a gathering sponsored by the anti-LGBT hate group Liberty Counsel, Blair handed out reprints of a 2015 interview he did with the New American magazine, JBS’( John Birch Society) primary publication.”

Anyone who knows how to use a search engine can easily discover the intolerance Blair regularly espouses towards the LGBT community. It’s not a secret. And the confusion is perfectly understandable based on the rhetoric used by Blair in the recent past. Any reasonable person could wonder if there might have been a Westboro Baptist Church connection. Blair says there isn’t but in doing so, has determined to purposely misstate and distort what Ms. Little said in response to questions about rumors of his association with the Westboro Baptist Church.

Blair’s actions against Ms. Little seem way over the top given the truth of what occurred. And it’s clear that he’s unconcerned about the truth and just wanted to impugn her integrity while playing the victim. Blair is showing who he really is, what he is willing to do in order to win a campaign, and in the process show everyone that he’s no man of God. He’s just another authoritarian politician looking for a government job.

On August 23rd, hopefully GOP voters will keep this kind of authoritarian depravity out of our state legislature which too often is a source of embarrassment during the legislative session.
