Major Parties Have Failed, It's Time to Look to Third Parties in America
Voters Should Stay Open to Third Party Candidates in 2016
It's striking to see RNC officials say that Donald Trump "wasn't their 17th choice" and yet say they want their party to win the presidency in November. There's too much commitment to political parties and not enough devotion to America.
Oklahoma will have more than two presidential nominees on the ballot for the first time since 2016. If ever there were a time to reconsider the two party paradigm, it's this year.
Even in the DNC, Democrats are sending signals that they aren't enthusiastic about their leading candidate, Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist, won Oklahoma's presidential preference primary. There will be lots of dissatisfaction among many voters of the two major parties.
The Oklahoma Libertarian Party became officially recognized for the first time since 2000 and will select its presidential candidate later this month in Orlando, Florida. Currently there are three leading candidates competing for the nomination. Former two-term New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, businessman John McAfee, and activist/news magazine publisher Austin Peterson will be vying for the nomination.
In today's Oklahoman, the editorial board opined that Trump needed a "more serious, disciplined approach" as Republican Party nominee. Even if one is offered by Trump, many doubt his ability to serve as president with honor. Same for Hillary Clinton.
If 2016 doesn't make you open your eyes to third party candidates, then nothing likely ever will.
